We are proud to announce a new research collaboration with The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), reinforcing our commitment to advancing biochar through scientific research, innovation, and industry collaboration. 

As the biochar industry continues to grow, we believe that widespread adoption depends not only on innovative technologies but also on rigorous scientific validation and real-world performance data. This partnership reflects our ongoing mission to develop science-backed biochar solutions that create measurable value for our customers while supporting a more sustainable future. 

Working alongside UTA’s Department of Civil Engineering, this collaboration will focus on evaluating biochar applications in construction materials. The research will help expand the understanding of how biochar can improve material performance while contributing to more sustainable infrastructure solutions. 

Advancing Sustainable Construction Through Research 

The University of Texas at Arlington is recognized for its excellence in engineering research, making it an ideal partner for evaluating emerging biochar technologies. 

The collaboration will be led by Dr. Warda Ashraf, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at UTA. Dr. Ashraf’s research focuses on the design and development of sustainable, high-performance cementitious materials through the integration of materials science, cement chemistry, and advanced characterization techniques. Her work advances the understanding of cementitious composites while enabling the development of infrastructure materials that combine durability, scalability, and environmental sustainability. 

Dr. Ashraf is an internationally recognized researcher and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the DARPA Director’s Fellowship Award, the DARPA Young Faculty Award, and the Lawrence Stephens Award for Outstanding Research Achievement from UTA’s College of Engineering. She has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, is the inventor of four patents, and has secured more than $10 million in competitive research funding from organizations including the National Science Foundation (NSF), DARPA, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
